A Unified Mission
"But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun." Exodus 17:12
As Joshua and his men fought with Amalek and his army, the battle went in favor of Joshua as long as Moses was on the top of the hill with his hands uplifted holding the rod of God. As the day wore on Moses became tired and as his hands dropped the battle went in favor of Amalek. Moses needed some partners who were fellow servants to UPHOLD his hands. Aaron and Hur rose to the occasion and supported Moses in the midst of servant-leadership.
One of Camp Eagle’s goals is to train servant-leaders for future ministry and life opportunities. “Servant-leadership” is a contradiction to some, but to Christians it describes a picture of the Lord Jesus and is taught throughout God’s Word. Whether teaching God’s Word, lovingly ministering to campers, mowing grass, cooking a meal, or setting up a game, every opportunity is a tool for Camp Eagle and the Lord to train servant-leaders. All this is made possible through Camp Eagle’s UPHOLD Partnership Program.
How does it work?
UPHOLD accomplishes three main goals:
- PRAYER - It encourages & empowers the Camp Eagle staff member, in the midst of service, through the supporting partners’ prayers! Prayer is the empowering force that brings the unusual work and blessings of God.
- FAITH - It will build your faith as you receive updates from your staff partner! You may choose a staff member to partner with or Camp Eagle will choose one for you. After responding to the UPHOLD program, you will receive updates through letters or e-mails from your staff partner. These updates will give you testimonies from your staff partner, the lessons that he/she is learning, and ways in which you may pray. Your faith and your staff partner’s faith will be strengthened as you experience, together, how God is working at Camp Eagle.
- PROVISION - UPHOLD helps Camp Eagle offset the considerable expense of providing for summer staff members. The average cost per summer staff member at Camp Eagle is approximately $2,000.00. While the cost to Camp Eagle is significant, it is well worth the investment. Regardless of UPHOLD financial provision, each staff member receives a ministry salary, meals, housing, limited transportation, training materials, and scholarship opportunities. When UPHOLD is operating as designed, Camp Eagle is able to provide for the staff and keep camper fees as low as possible. In other words, UPHOLD benefits everyone.
What’s the goal of UPHOLD?
UPHOLD seeks to fulfill the Great Commission by impacting the next generation for Christ. The summer staff member and the UPHOLD partner each have specific roles to play in order to achieve this goal. UPHOLD partners fulfill their role behind the scenes, through prayer and/or financial giving. Summer staff members minister on the front lines, standing in the gap on behalf of their UPHOLD partner. Working together, both parties accomplish Christ-honoring, biblical ministry.
Why is it a partnership?
UPHOLD unifies people together to accomplish God’s mission. A Camp Eagle staff member serves on your behalf in sharing the love of Christ to the next generation. You UPHOLD the staff member through prayer and/or financial provision. The partnership is between you, the staff member, and Camp Eagle. It’s a group of partners “laboring together” for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 3:9). Each member fulfilling a specific purpose in order to impact future generations for Christ.
